Tightwad love her perennials! They are such a joy. It's so gratifying to see them come back year after year, bigger and better than ever.
Once perennials are established you will have gorgeous cut flowers all season! Now's the time to start planning your own fab perennial flower bed... Here are some easy Tightwad tips to help get you started:
- Keep your flower border about 5 feet wide
- Arrange a narrow path at the back to make weeding easier
- Make sure you are planting species that will thrive in your zone, solar exposure and soil
- Know the size the plant will be when established to allow enough planting room
- Choose plants that have similar watering requirements
- Plant in groups of at least three of the same type and colour, or plant in colour clusters for more impact.
