Use a few marbles to monitor your double boiler because if, like Tightwad, you forget to check the water level and the bottom of your pan burns, you'll be sorry! Adding a few marbles to the bottom pan will alert you when the water is getting low because they will start to rattle and bring you back from la-la land.
