Random word tuesdays: upcycling

The word upcycling gets tossed around a bit so Tightwad thought it was time to bring it up in her random word Tuesdays series. In a nutshell, upcycling is: "the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value." (Source: OED) Essentially, turning trash into treasure! Tightwad thinks this is uber-cool. Before you throw out that old suitcase, bunch of old clothespegs, typewriter, aluminum can, bike tire, wine bottles, whatever, consider what you can upcycle! Online colleges have interior design classes for people who enjoy recycling upcycled treasures.
