Time to organize your perennials!

The days are getting a little cooler, little by little. Tightwad loves this time of year; the crispness of the air, the quality of light as the days get shorter, the leaves, the colours, the gardening. September is the best time to transplant and dig all perennials - whether they're looking great or not. In general, for every zone warmer than 4 you live in, you can add a week into October. Be careful! Survival rates go down the longer you wait past September. Sigh. The toughest thing is to take a blooming perennial and cut it back for digging and transplanting.
