Random word tuesday: repurposed

Ever keep hearing buzz words and wonder what they actually mean? The general definition of repurposing is 'to use or convert for use in another format or product.' Repurposing is super frugal and Tightwad loves it because it's being creative, frugal and enviro, all at the same time. Being frugal has the benefit of being green most of the time anyway... but repurposing is a way to see your results when something is reformatted for a new purpose. Lifehacker.com has an annual roundup of its best repurposing posts of the year - such as using rain gutters to stash all those annoying cables that dangle at the back of your desk. Awesome idea, right? Click here for 2009's list. Other cool ideas... younghouselove's idea to use old egg cartons to stash your jewelry so it's easy to find and sort, or Tipnut's idea to reuse small glass baby food jars as magnetic spice holders. Do you have some cool repurposing tips? Tightwad would love to hear them!

Love the Croc idea! I hate my crocs - constantly slipping out of them, but refuse to throw them away! Thank you for sharing!
